About

Our Story

It all started with a simple desire to have a couple of honeybee colonies to help pollinate our garden back in 2017. Although we had no intention of getting into the honey business, sometimes life has a way of leading us down unexpected paths that ignite an enthusiasm that must be pursued. Before we knew it, we had a full-scale honeybee farm with 600 colonies up and running.

Our founders, Brad and Andrea Frey, have been learning and growing alongside their bees, from raising them to mastering the art of honey extraction and packaging. They also developed a variety of products, perfecting their soaps, lip balms, and candles to sell at various events and stores in the local area. It was a challenging start for the business, but we are grateful for their hard work and dedication. While the past few years have been filled with bee stings, hard work, and long days and nights, we wouldn't have it any other way.

Meet the Freys

As a military couple, Brad and Andrea have spent enough time apart during combat deployments and operational assignments to understand the importance of having a close-knit family that works together to achieve something great. Now with five children - Sterling, Caden, Wyatt, Titus, and Judah - who are our next generation of beekeepers, they have found a way to pursue their passion as a family. It has been quite an adventure thus far, and being able to work together as a family in an endeavor that inspires mutual passion is truly a blessing.

Founder & CEO

Brad is our founder, CEO, and the visionary behind Abundant Life Honey. As a US Army combat veteran who served in Afghanistan in 2007, and as a former Deputy Sheriff for over 10 years, he dreamed of creating something of his own for his family.

Brad is the mastermind behind the design of the facilities, the craftsman behind the building of all equipment, and the mechanic who keeps our machines running. Brad is invaluable as an innovator and is constantly finding better ways to move bees, produce equipment and generally improve our processes.

Accountant

Andrea is a CPA accountant who always pushes herself to achieve excellence in her field. She is the heart and soul of our family and we would never accomplish everything without her.

She does everything from running our finances to extracting honey, tending the non-bee farm animals, preparing meals-to-go for the busy work days, fixing and customizing our bee suits with her amazing sewing skills, and selling honey at markets and events, while still getting all her work done, so everyone else can accomplish their missions too.  She has been pivotal to the success of our business and invests countless hours behind the scenes to ensure that we are prepared to succeed.

Apiary Manager

Caden is a pillar of strength here at Abundant Life Honey. He helped start the apiary, and the tales of his and Brad’s struggles to learn the crazy world of commercial beekeeping are pretty epic. He has been the apiary manager since 2018 and is responsible for the day-to-day operations and welfare of the hives. His diligence, work ethic, and strict standard of excellence are the reasons for the apiary's success.

Caden has always had a passion for plants and being outdoors. He understands that working hard and having a desire to always grow personally and professionally are keys to a successful life. You will find Caden working with the bees, planning the next steps for the apiary, building equipment, or in his free time, working out!
